Privacy policy

ShoeGauge is a mileage odometer for your shoes. This policy describes exactly what the app collects, what it never collects, and how to erase everything.
What ShoeGauge stores
- Your account — the email address you sign up with (or the one Apple shares when you use Sign in with Apple) and your display preferences (units, reminder timing, replacement threshold).
- Your shoes — names and details you enter, plus each shoe's derived distance total.
- Your sessions — when you started and stopped wearing a shoe, the derived distance for that window, and an optional note you attach.
- Manual adjustments — mileage entries you add yourself.
Shoe photos, if you add them, stay on your device only — they are never uploaded.
Health data
ShoeGauge asks for read-only access to two things in Apple Health: walking + running distance, and workouts. It uses them for one purpose — computing how far you moved while a shoe was active.
- Health data is processed on your device. Raw Health samples are never transmitted, stored on our servers, or shared with anyone.
- Only the derived results — a distance total per session and per shoe — sync to your account.
- ShoeGauge never writes to Health.
- Health data is never used for advertising, marketing, data mining, or any purpose other than the mileage math above, and it is never sold or disclosed to third parties.
What ShoeGauge doesn't do
- No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
- No advertising.
- No selling or sharing of your data with third parties.
Where your data lives
Synced data (account, shoes, sessions, adjustments) is stored with our hosting provider, Supabase, in the United States, encrypted in transit. It exists so your shoes stay in sync across your devices — nothing else reads it.
Deleting your data
Settings → Account → Delete Account inside the app permanently erases your account and every record tied to it — shoes, sessions, and adjustments — from our servers and from the device, immediately. There is no retention period.
